Apple Secures Over 650MW of Renewable Capacity across Europe

Apple has expanded its renewable energy portfolio across Europe, adding more than 650MW of new renewable capacity. The projects include several large-scale solar and wind projects across Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Romania.

“By 2030, we want our users to know that all the energy it takes to charge their iPhone or power their Mac is matched with clean electricity,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment, policy, and social initiatives. “Our new projects in Europe will help us achieve our ambitious Apple 2030 goal, while contributing to healthy communities, thriving economies, and secure energy sources across the continent.”

The investments are part of Apple’s goal to be carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030. As part of the investment, Apple has signed several long-term renewable supply agreements. These include a deal with Greek renewable developer Helleniq Energy to procure power from a 110MW solar project in Greece. The project has already reached commercial operations.
