Sep 05, 2025 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

Indian tower company Indus Towers has outlined plans to expand its footprint into Africa. The company's board has approved plans to expand its tower portfolio into Africa, kicking off with Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia.

In the announcement, Indus has said that it will leverage its financial position and anchor customer relationship with Bharti Airtel to "establish a strong and competitive presence in these regions."

Further details around how many towers the company plans to operate in the markets were not revealed, while the plans are subject to the necessary approvals and compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

"The Board’s approval to enter international markets in Africa unlocks our vision for long-term sustainable growth and value creation for our shareholders. By leveraging our expertise in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions, we are well-positioned to differentiate ourselves in Africa’s fast-growing telecom market and emerge as the preferred tower company," said Prachur Sah, managing director & CEO, Indus Towers.
